Dua in sujood

  • 23
  • 23

I heard that I can make Dua while in prostration and it’s one of the best time for it to be accepted by Allah.  Is there any hadith about this? Also I know if I talk in salah then the salah gets cancelled! So how can I make Dua in prostration but not break my salah? And what’s the proper way to make dua in prostration?

I am a little bit confused. Thank you.

    Riyad as-Salihin 1428

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “A slave becomes nearest to his Rubb when he is in prostration. So increase supplications while prostrating.”[Muslim].

    Reference : Riyad as-Salihin 1428

    In-book reference : Book 15, Hadith 21

To supplicate is to simply ask.

    Assalamu Alaykum

Yes that’s correct. The Prophet (PBUH) said: “The nearest a slave can be to his Lord (Allāh) is while they are prostrating, so increase in supplication”. You can make supplication in any language as there is no restriction in this, especially if arabic is not your first language.

Bulugh al-Maram » The Book of Prayer – كتاب الصلاة

    Narrated Mu’awiya bin al-Hakam (RA):

Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said, “Talking is not befitting during the Salat (prayer), for it (prayer) consists only of glorifying Allah, declaring His Greatness and the recitation of the Qur’an.” [Reported by Muslim].

    Sunnah.com reference : Book 2, Hadith 84

    English translation : Book 2, Hadith 218

    Arabic reference

When you supplicate to Allah you are glorifying Him and declaring His greatness. The supplication is to be done silently. Furthermore, the Prophet (saw) would never tell us to do anything against Allah.

Assalamou alaykoum, it is narrated that during sujoud we are closest to Allah soubhanahou wa taala, I have made my research and here’s what I found:

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The servant is closest to his Lord during prostration, so increase your supplications therein.”

    Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 482

    Hope this helped

You are allowed to make dua in sujood when praying but you’re not allowed to do it in fardh salah. Also you can only make dua about the akhirah and not any worldly duas.

Assalamoualaikoum. You can make dua in sijdah or sajdah or sujood. (Prostration). But make sure you’re are not in a state of salah. I mean you should make or ask your dua either when you’re finished with your salah or after your dua in sajdah then you do your salah. It is preferably to make dua after your salah. When you’re in sajdah you’re closest to Allah much closer as your veins in your neck. And also if you’re sincere while asking for duas and also you’re crying while you are making your duah. ALLAH definitely accept your duas,of course if you’re asking for good things. Hope the answer the question. Thank you

I am not an expert but there is a hadith narrated by Abu Huraira in Sahih Muslim (482) saying that you are closest to Allah SWT in prostration (sujood) and to increase supplications therein. You do not have to be in salah to prostrate but if you choose to you may say the dua in your heart because Allah knows what is in your heart.
